Abstract

1468709 Expanded metal panel, partitions R A PACENTI 7 May 1974 [7 May 1973] 19984/74 Headings E1B E1K and EIW A panel unit 10 formed from sheet metal comprises solid channel section side bars 11 interconnected by an integral web 18 of expanded metal, a further channel section bar 20 being provided at the centre of the unit. The portions 23 and 12a of the channel section bars may also be expanded metal. In an alternative embodiment the intermediate bar is Z-section and the expanded metal portions are inclined to the general plane of the unit. The unit may be used (Fig. 5) as a reinforcement for a lightweight concrete slab 41 which may have a facing 42 on one or both faces. The unit may also receive facing sheets on either face and be embedded in foamed polyurethane cast therebetween. Alternatively the units may be used to support a partition (Fig. 3) in which case the lower edge is secured to the floor by a channel section member, the upper edge to a ceiling by an angle section member, and insulation 34 and facing sheets 32 applied thereto. One or both faces of the insulation may receive a vapour barrier 35. The panel is preferably formed from a single sheet of metal.
