Abstract

1468521 Fluid-pressure actuators; moving air HERGA ELECTRIC Ltd 3 April 1974 [16 Feb 1973 16 July 1973] 7855/73 and 33803/73 Headings F1D and F1N A control system 14, Fig. 1, for a sliding door 2, which has a tubular member 6 along its leading edge, comprises a solenoid 22, Fig. 7, and a relay 24 which are energized when a push-button 26 is depressed. The solenoid causes contacts 18c, 18b to be closed and the relay holds contacts 24a closed so that a door closing motor 4 remains operative when the button 26 is released. Energization of the solenoid 22, Fig. 4, causes a valve 36, Fig. 6, to move up and close a bleed hole 30, which when open allows for expansion and contraction of the air in the system caused by changes in temperature, and also extends bellows 20, Fig. 4. This lowers the pressure in the system and causes a diaphragm 18d to close contacts 18c, 18b. When the tube 6 meets an obstruction a pressure rise is produced in the system which raises the diaphragm 18d, thus opening the contacts 18c, 18b and arresting the door. Fig. 9 shows a "master cylinder" device in which depression of a plunger 122 closes a bleed orifice 120 and compresses a diaphragm 114 to produce an increase in pressure which is transmitted through a line 106 to a slave device. Fig. 11 shows an alternative construction in which a bleed 174 is closed when a member 162 is depressed by gripping it. Pressure is thus increased in a chamber 158. A notch 178 co-operates with a detent to hold the member 162 in the depressed condition.
