1468127 Sweetening composition FIRMENICH SA 8 April 1975 [9 April 1974] 14299/75 Heading A2B Sweetening composition comprising a natural sugar or non-nutritive sweetening agent together with 2, 5-dimethyl-3-hydroxy-4-oxo-4, 5- dihydrofuran to enhance the sweetness. The composition may be used in foodstuffs and beverages. The sugar may be fructose, glucose, saccharose, xylose. maltose, rhanmose, galactose or lactose, and the non-nutritive sweetener may be mannitol, sorbitol, xylitol or arabitol. The furan derivative may be used in an amount from 5 to 100 p.p.m. by weight.
