Abstract

1468094 Incinerators P W BARKHUUS 18 June 1974 26881/74 Heading F4B In an incinerator, secondary air is delivered in the opposite direction to the flow of exhaust gases from inlets 18 surrounding the waste gas outlet 14 from the main combustion chamber 4. The secondary air is preheated in the delivery pipes 19 which pass through part of the flue 16, and may be partly embedded in heat conductive refractory material. The inlets 18 are fed in groups by fans 26, and the rate of delivery of air is controlled in accordance with the temperature of the air delivered to the inlets 18. A groove on the inside of each delivery nozzle ensures turbulent flow. The exhaust gas outlet 14 of the combustion chamber has a refractory grating 15.
