Abstract

1467792 Scraper bowls GENERAL MOTORS CORP 18 Sept 1975 [11 Nov 1974] 38326/75 Heading E1F An elevator device 34 is pivotally attached to the side walls 30, 32 of an open ended scraper bowl by upper and lower links 42, 44, the position of the lower end of the elevator device relative to the cutting blade 36 of the scraper bowl being adjustable by a mechanism comprising a base member 56 rigidly attached to one of the side walls, the base member having an elongate slot 58 and a plurality of teeth 60, 62, 64 and an arm 72 supporting one of the lower links 44 and having a pair of pins 80, 82, the pin 82 being located within the slot 58 so as to provide a connection with the base member that allows the pin 80 to pivot outwardly relative to the base member and allows the arm to move upwardly and downwardly whereby the pin 80 can be adjustably located between a pair of teeth to vary the position of the lower link 44. The elevator device may comprise an endless chain supporting a plurality of transverse flight members and the front end of the scraper bowl may be supported by a pair of rams 38 attached to a transverse torque tube 24 so that the bowl may be moved between a raised carry-position and a lowered dig-position. Preferably the arm, 72 supports the lower link 44 via a resilient member 86.
