1467679 Transmitting mechanism; linkwork; Bowden mechanisms HAHN FAHRZEUGBAU GmbH 16 May 1974 [19 May 1973] 21876/74 Heading F2E and F2K A vehicle braking device comprises brakes 5, 5a associated with the wheels of a front axle 2 and brakes 5b, 5c associated with the wheels of a rear axle 2a, each pair of brakes being operable by a respective cable wire 9 or 9b and the brake cable wires of each axle being connected to a respective cable pulley 10, 10b which is actuable by an actuation cable wire 14. Each brake cable wire 9 or 9b for a pair of brakes 5, 5a or 5b, 5c an comprise a single wire or two parts connected together. In the embodiment of Fig. 1, the brake cable wire 9 forms part of Bowden cables 6, 6a whose casings 8, 8a are secured to a cable holder 7. The pulley 10 is mounted so as to be capable of rotation on a pivotal lever 11, whose pivot bearing 12 is disposed on the axle 2. The brake cable wire 9b forms part of Bowden cables 6b, 6c, and the cable pulley 10b is mounted so as to be capable of rotation on a pivotal lever 11b. A forked stirrup 13 engages with the bearing of the cable pulley 10 and a stirrup 13b engages pivotal lever 11b at a point spaced from the cable pulley 106. The stirrups 13, 13b are connected to actuation cable wires, forming a common actuation cable 14, which is led over a pulley 10d. The pulley 10d is connected to an actuation mechanism via an actuation cable 14d in which a tension lock or stretching screw or tie bar 15 is inserted or via a brake rod. On pulling the cable 14d, the force exerted thereon is distributed over the brakes of axles 2, 2a in a predetermined ratio according to the points of application of the stirrups 13, 13b; the brakes 5, 5a and 5b, 5c are respectively actuated with equal force owing to the pulleys 10, 106. The cable pulleys 10, 106, 10d are each provided with a bearing bush made of a rust-proof material. In the embodiment of Fig. 4, the casings 8, 8a, 8b, 8c are omitted. Two guide pulleys 26, 26a capable of independent rotation and disposed coaxially one above the other are firmly connected to the axle 2 by a stirrup 27 and the cable wire 9a is taken, starting from pulley 10, on its run to brake 5 about the pulley 26 and on its run to brake 5a about pulley 26a. Likewise do pulleys 26b, 26c support a cable wire 9c.
