Abstract

146,752. Burchett, A. C. Sept. 23, 1919. Needles and the like, pointing.-A device for sharpening gramophone needles &c. comprises a f rame a having formed thereon a fingerpiece a<1> and two lugs a<2>, in which is journaled a spindle b provided with a driving-roller c and having one end formed to provide a holder for the needles. The holder is formed by providing the spindle end with a screwed part d' and a tapered part d split and centrally bored at d<2>, a nut e with a tapered portion e<1> serving to press the split parts on to the needle. In operation, the device is held by the part a<1> and the roller is pressed on the rotating table of a gramophone, or other rotating member, and an oilstone or other sharpener is held against the point of the needle.
