Abstract
1467085 Flexible pipe-lines KABEL-UND METALLWERKE GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE AG 2 May 1975 [7 Aug 1974] 18464/75 Heading F2P A flexible pipe-line for transporting liquid or gaseous refrigerated media comprises two coaxial corrugated metal tubes 1 and 2, with a cellular synthetic resin material 3 as insulation between the tubes wherein, between the inner metal tube and the cellular synthetic resin material there is a continuous metal sheath 9 which is spaced from the inner metal tube by one or more layers of a network or braid, and wherein the passage 12 running between the inner metal tube and the metal sheath is filled with a medium which is gaseous at room temperature and liquid at lower temperatures, e.g. carbon dioxide. As shown, the layers of a network or a braid consist of a spiral metal band 5 and a network formed by layers 6, 7 and 8 made of a thermoplastics synthetic resin. There is a jacket 4 of a thermoplastics synthetic resin material. The metal sheath 9 is formed from a metal band that is bent into a slot tube around layer 8, the edges of the band entered radially outwardly and are welded together by arc welding. The resulting formation is then bent down on to the cylindrical portion. The outer tube is then formed from a metal band that is bent into a slit tube around the previously formed structure, a foam-forming synthetic resin material is introduced into the open slit tube prior to the edges being welded together, the outer tube thus formed is corrugated.
