Abstract

1465981 Lubricants MOBIL OIL CORP 26 Sept 1974 [4 Oct 1973] 41925/74 Heading C5F [Also in Divisions C2 and C3] Lubricants contain as a corrosion-inhibiting, anti-wear, anti-rust and bactericidal agent a novel salt of an amine and a reaction product of an alkyl or alkenyl succinic anhydride and a benzotriazole or substituted benzotriazole. The amine is preferably an alkanolamine (e.g. (triethanolamine or a tertiary alkyl primary mono-amine containing 4-30 carbon atoms). Examples describe compositions containing (10) and (11) water, naphthenic oil, or solvent refined paraffinic oil, lauroyl diethanolamide, (C 14-18 fatty acids, sodium petroleum sulphonate, tricresyl phosphate and the amine salt, (12) oxypropylated trimethylol propane (M.W. 3000), phenyl-1-naphthylamine, tricresyl phosphate and the amine salt, (13) and (14) water, a propylene oxide/ethylene oxide copolymer and amine salt and possibly pentachloro-meta-cresol.
