Abstract

1465910 Handles DORTREND Ltd 13 March 1974 [19 Dec 1973] 58990/73 Heading A4U [Also in Divisions B3 and E2] In a door lever 100, Fig. 21, the barrel 121 thereof has a cylindrical recess in which is accommodated a hollow insert 130 of square cross-section and having tongues 132 which are received in slots 123, 124 in the barrel; the insert is retained in the recess after passing the barrel through the backing plate 110 by a washer 140 of spring steel and having lugs 144 which are deformed to slide over and grip the barrel, and lugs 143 which are received in the slots 123, 124. Washer 140 has abutments 141, 142 to engage a stop 112 on the backing plate 110, to limit movement of the washer, there being a spiral return spring 150. In another embodiment Figs. 2-14 (not shown) the lever barrel (70) has flanges (63, 64) between which are located lugs (81) of the insert (80) which also has upstanding faces (82) engaged by lugs (94) of washer (90), the lugs (95) of which overlie lugs (81) of the insert.
