Abstract

146,573. Holslag, C. J. April 1, 1919. Heating by electricity.-An electrode for arc-cutting, perforating, or reducing, has an oxygensupplying compound applied to a fibrous material. The material, such as asbestos, is impregnated with potassium bichromate, manganese dioxide, barium dioxide, potassium permanganate, or potassium chlorate, and preferably silicate of soda and calcium carbonate, and may be applied as a complete or partial covering 3 to a steel rod 2, or inserted in a groove therein, or inserted in a hollow carbon or graphite rod. The electrode may be used with a transformer T of the type described in Specification 128,186. Specification 144,333 is referred to.
