Pendulum-weight apparatus; sliding or like traversing weight apparatus.-The beam of an automatic weighing scale consists of two levers coupled together so as to form a parallelogram, one of the levers carrying a load-balancing weight which is moved to balance the load by means of a connexion between the other lever and the weight. As applied to a platform machine, the pull of the usual draw-rod 18, Fig. 1, draws down the beam consisting of levers 4, 5 and adjustable coupling 6, and causes an adjustable link 22 to rock a load-balancing weight 19 which is suspended by links 20 from the lower lever 5. The weight is indicated on a dial 15. In a modification, shown applied to a counter scale, Fig. 3, the load-balancing weight 25 rolls on the lower lever of the beam and is controlled by links 22a, 27.
