Abstract

1464654 Roll adjustment assembly MORGAN CONSTRUCTION CO 28 Feb 1974 [8 March 1973] 9137/74 Heading B3M A rolling mill roll 20 is supported in a chock 12 and is axially adjustable relative to the chock by an hydraulically operated annular piston 40 coupled to the roll. The roll may be of grooved construction for producing rod or bar, and has an outer sleeve 18 rigidly fixed to its central shaft 20. A thrust bearing assembly 60 is located between the sleeve 18 and a sleeve connector 48 joined to the piston 40 by a threaded portion 56. When fluid is introduced into one or other chambers 42 or 44 of an annular cylinder enclosing the piston 40, the connector 48 is moved axially and transmits this movement through the bearing 60 to the roll shell 18. A linear transducer 80 measures the axial roll adjustment.
