Abstract

1463713 Devices for dispensing sheets of paper or flexible card individually H IPPEN [trading as ARLAC WERK HEIKO IPPEN] 20 March 1974 [21 March 1973] 12446/74 Heading B8P A device for dispensing sheets of paper or flexible card singly comprises an upper housing 12b and lower housing 11 defining a dispensing slot 14 through which sheets of paper 20a from stack 20 are to be dispensed, and a flexible cylindrical body 30 of spring steel having part of its outer surface coated with a friction increasing coating and floating freely within the housing but confined by guide faces, e.g. attached to the undersurface of the top of the housing, a downwardly extending projection 46 and the stack of sheets of paper 20, thereby compressing it to an elliptical shape; such that when a top sheet 20a is drawn from the dispenser the body 30 is rotated and grips the subsequent sheet 20b in the stack, moving that sheet to a position having an end extending through the dispensing slot 14 for subsequent withdrawal; the flexible body 30 expanding as the stack 20 becomes smaller, to thereby maintain a constant pressure on the stack regardless of how full the dispenser is.
