Abstract
1463515 Two-part couplings TRW Inc 20 Aug 1974 36652/74 Heading H2E In a two-part coupling contacts of either the male part or the female part have locking means which co-operate with locking means present on the body of either the female or male part respectively. A female body 26 has an opening 32 in which is mounted a resilient bowed blade contact 74 and two openings 40, 42 in a side wall 32b; the male contact 62 has two projections 78, 80 which engage the openings 40, 42, being urged thereagainst by the resilience of the contact 74. The male part has a housing of two portions (44, 46, Fig. 8), held together by external clips (70, Fig. 7), or by welding or cementing the portion (44) comprising a polarizing rib (54), a dependent skirt (48), a tear-shaped gripping area (52) and ribs (66, 68) to grip lead wires crimped to terminal portions of the contacts 62. The upper (as seen in Fig. 14) portion of each projection is more sharply angled than the smoother shallower lower portion to enhance locking and ease of insertion. Both contacts 62, 74 are gold plated. The female parts are shown mounted on a board (22) with the female contacts extending through holes in the board for receiving a wire wrapping. Gates may be inserted between the female-part bodies to polarize a group of bodies with respect to an intended group of male coupling parts.
