Abstract

1463257 Reciprocating pumps; pneumatic motors CHARLES S MADAN & CO Ltd 12 July 1975 [12 July 1975] 29364/75 Headings F1A and F1M A pneumatically-actuated pump comprises a motor piston 10 either integral with or connected to a reciprocable pumping piston 14 or a reciprocable pumping cylinder, Fig. 3 (not shown), a smaller motor piston area 12 being continuously connected to the air supply and a larger piston area 11 being alternately connected to air supply and exhaust under the control of a differential-area, shuttle valve 40 pneumatically controlled by piston 10 controlling passages 23, 24. Piston 10 is cushioned at the end of its strokes by O-rings 15. Exhaust port 37 has a sintered disc silencer 39. One shuttle valve 40 may control a number of pistons 10. A double-acting pump may have pumping pistons or cylinders on both sides of the motor piston.
