Abstract
1462601 Heterocyclic carbodithioates PENNWALT CORP 7 Jan 1975 [1 Feb 1974] 641/75 Addition to 1418833 Heading C2C Novel compounds of formula where X is S or O, R, R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> are H, C 1-8 alkyl, CCl 3 , phenyl or substituted phenyl wherein the substituents are selected from NR<SP>4</SP>R<SP>5</SP>, OR<SP>4</SP> and Cl where R<SP>4</SP> and R<SP>5</SP> are H or C 1-8 alkyl, M is Na, K, Cd, Cu, Fe, tri-C 1-8 - alkylammonium or phenyldi-C 1-8 -alkylammonium and y is 1-3 according to the valency of M, are prepared by reacting an appropriate oxazolidine or thiazolidine with CS 2 and a salt or oxide of the desired metal or an amine at 0-100‹ C., preferably in a solvent in the presence of a basic amine. Excess amine may also be used as solvent and the metal salts may be prepared using pyridine as solvents in which case pyridine adducts of the products are generally obtained. The pyridine may be removed from the adduct by heating. One salt may be converted to another. The above compounds are used as vulcanization accelerators in curing elastomers, reducing bloom.
