Abstract

1462522 Shaping filled containers QUEPOR SA 11 Feb 1974 [13 Feb 1973] 06153/74 Heading B5A [Also in Division B8] Apparatus for shaping containers into prismatic packages comprises a vertically oscillatable and intermittently movable conveyer 1, 2 carrying U-shaped trays 3, an upper moulding plate 38, 39 and two lateral moulding plates (17, 17<SP>1</SP>) movable together, and means 11 to lift the conveyer so that a container 42 in a tray is compressed and shaped against the moulding plates (17, 17<SP>1</SP>), 38, 39. The pinions 7, 8 of the conveyer are mounted on a beam 9 pivotally mounted on a shaft 10. The conveyer is driven through a Geneva mechanism 35, 36 from a shaft 35<SP>1</SP> on which cams 15, 34 are mounted. The cam 15 oscillates the conveyer lifting means 11, and cam 34 rocks the lateral plates (17, 17<SP>1</SP>) against the sides of a container through a bell-crank lever 31, a stirrup 29, and a pin and -slot connection (27, 28). The containers are formed by filling and transversely sealing a tube 44, clamps 45, 46 on endless chains 47-50 gripping the tube above each seal. The upper moulding plate is formed by jaws 38, 39 which carry a blade to cut each container from the tube.
