Abstract

1461178 Making boxes MASCHINENFABRIK RISSEN GmbH 16 April 1974 [16 April 1973 (2)] 16556/74 Heading B5D [Also in Division B8] A round cornered foil-lined nestable container is formed by folding a unitary paper blank along spaced straight parallel foldlines 5 and 6 between a box portion 3 and side wall portions 2 to form a downwardly-projecting de-nesting rim and then drawing a foil lining into the erected blank. The blank is drawn by suction pads 16 down past shaping plates 16a and end flap folding rods 17 into a funnel-shaped guide 18 on a turret (not shown). The turret is then moved to a next station at which a thrust member engages the top edges of the erected side wall portions, preferably at a plurality of peripheral positions, and a counter thrust member 19 engages the base portion. The two members are simultaneously moved downwardly together in the guide 18 thereby causing formation of the bottom rim. A foil lining is then deep-drawn into the erected blank at a further station, not shown. The lining may be adhesively coated to join the opposite legs of the folded rim rogether. Alternatively, the side walls and rim may be compressed between a rin 22 and paterally movable dies 23 and 24, Fig. 7 and 8 (not shown), prior to insertion of the lining.
