Abstract

1461116 Voltage-variable resistor C CONRADTY 15 July 1974 [18 July 1973] 31233/74 Heading H1K [Also in Division C1] A voltage-variable resistor comprises: 50-90 mole per cent ZnO; 0À1-40 mole per cent (preferably 1-8%) ZnF 2 ; 0À1-40 mole per cent (preferably 2-10%) MeO, where MeO is one or more oxides of Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Fe, Mn, Pb, B, Al, Co, Ni, Sb or Bi. The resistor has a characteristic of the form V=B.I<SP>1/n</SP>, the constant B being determined mainly by the ZnO : ZnF 2 ratio and the constant n being determined mainly by the proportion of MeO present. Conductive silver or flame-sprayed brass contacts complete the device.
