Suitable refractories include MgO, MgO + chromite (FeCr 2 O 4 ), Al 2 O 3 .SiO 2 , and materials of the following compositions, (a) 58% MgO, 18% Cr 2 O 3 , 10% FeO, 9% Al 2 O 3 , 5% CaO + SiO 2 ; and (b) 73% Al 2 O 3 , 20% SiO 2 , 5% ZrO 2 , balance TiO 2 , CaO, Fe 2 O 3 ,Na 2 O.
