Abstract

1334763 Refractives CORHART REFRACTORIES CO 28 July 1971 [29 July 1970] 35386/71 Heading C1J [Also in Division F4] Fused refractory material is produced by melting in an electric arc furnace (see Divisions F3-F4) and blowing in an oxidizing gas, e.g. air, O 2 , N 2 O, CO 2 or mixtures thereof. A refractory thus produced for lining glass melting tanks comprises by weight 25-90% ZrO 2 , up to 25% SiO 2 , up to 4% Na 2 O and the balance Al 2 O 3 with incidental impurities. A similar refractory for lining metallurgical furnaces and based on magnesia and chrome ore contains at least 40% MgO and at least 4% Cr 2 O 3 , some TiO 2 , Al 2 O 3 and FeO.
