Abstract
1459202 Metering fluent material HEBENSTREIT GmbH 6 Dec 1973 [9 May 1973] 56699/73 Headings B8A B8N and B8S [Also in Division B1] Apparatus for mixing two or more dry ingredients in predetermined proportions and a liquid ingredient comprises a silo for each dry ingredient, each silo having a volumetric metering chamber disposed beneath the silo and discharging into a conveyer which delivers the dry ingredients into a mixing container and a liquid storage tank having means for discharging predetermined quantities of liquid into the mixing container. As shown in Fig. 1, silos 11, 12, 13, discharge through metering devices 21, 22 and 23 respectively on to a conveyer 4, where premixing takes place and which discharges into a mixing container 1. The conveyer 4 may be equipped with a vibrator or beater and is pivotable about an axis 151 so that it can discharge into further mixing containers 1 approximately positioned. A further silo 14 for a dry ingredient discharges through a metering device 24 and a liquid, e.g. water, is fed into the container 1 from a storage tank 15 through a feed pump 25. A more viscous liquid, e.g. an oil or fat, is fed into the container 1 by a plunger pump 26, the stroke of which can be varied to give no delivery, up to a maximum delivery. The mixing container 1 is provided with an agitator shaft 9 carrying mixing and fragmenting knives 2 and driven by motor 7. In Fig. 2, four silos 11, 12, 13 and 14 for dry ingredients discharge on to a conveyer belt 4 which delivers the ingredients on to a bucket conveyer 5 which discharges into a rotary mixing container 1 rotated by a motor 49 and equipped with a bladed agitator 2<SP>1</SP> driven through a coupling 8 by a motor 7. The water ingredient is fed to the container by ring spray pipe 58. The metering devices may each comprise a rotary cylinder, Fig. 6, having open sectors 101 and 102 for reception of the ingredient in the upper position and discharging it in the lower position. The angles between the sector walls are adjustable to give variable volumes. The cylinder rotates within a housing comprising hinged covers 98, 100 to give access to the sectors 101, 102 for cleaning purposes. The metering devices for the various silos may be arranged upon a common shaft 10<SP>1</SP>. Alternatively, a variable volume metering chamber may comprise telescoping tubes 108, 109, Fig. 11, the tube 109 being closed by a hinged flap 109b. The container 1 may be rotatable in the opposite direction to the agitating device. For discharge purposes, the container 1 may be tiltable or may be provided with a discharge pump. The silos may be equipped with vibrators or may be constructed with guide plates 117 having vibrators 114. An apparatus is described, Fig. 10, for an automated pre-programmed mixing operation in which dry ingredients A, B, C, D from silos 11a, 11b, 11c; 12a, 12b, 12c; 13b, 13c and 14 are mixed with water, supplied by a pump 25<SP>1</SP> and oil supplied from a tank 16 by a plunger pump 26. The apparatus comprises a pulse emitter 201 and the metering devices are operated through pulse controlled clutches 31a, 31b, 31c; 32a, 32b, 32c; 33a, 33b, 33c and 34. The conveyer 4 for the dry ingredients is driven by a motor 48 through a pulse controlled clutch 28 and the mixing impeller 2<SP>1</SP> is driven from a motor 7 through a pulse controlled clutch 8. In one embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown) the dry ingredients are fed to the mixing container by an endless belt conveyer provided with arrangements for reversing its drive and a take-off chute (108) for monitoring samples of the mixture. The apparatus is especially suitable for the manufacture of doughs and other edible products and the dry ingredients specified include soda, ammonium, salt, sugar, milk powder, egg powder, soya bean flour, potato flour, ground rice, ground maize and Lecipan, for admixture with water and oil or homogenized fat.
