Abstract

1459054 Mixing and aerating apparatus H MULLER 16 Dec 1974 [21 Dec 1973 (2)] 54304/74 Heading B1C Apparatus for dispersing a gas in a liquid especially in the cultivation of micro-organisms comprises a container 8 having therein a rotor 2, 3, 4 with axial inlet and radial oultet, and a coaxial liquid guide tube 7. As shown the rotor has a venturiform construction into which project air inlet tubes 6 supplied by a tube 5 coaxial with the guide tube 7. The tubes 6 may have bevelled ends opening downwards; they may be of more than one length and/or diameter; and the height of the tube 5 may be adjustable. In another embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown) the construction is in the lower end of the guide tube 7, through the wall of which pass the tubes 6 which are supplied by an encircling ring manifold (14) and external air tube 5.
