508,385. Concentrating ores; mixing- apparatus. DRAKE, L. D. Dec. 30,1937, No. 36094. Convention date, Feb. 1. [Classes 82 (ii) and 86] Flotation apparatus for concentrating ores comprises a deep tank fitted with a central tube at the top of which is an impeller whereby circulation of the pulp is effected upwards through the tube and downwards in the surrounding space, gas being supplied to the ascending column. The pulp is supplied to the tank A through a feed box 2 and is drawn upwards through the tube 10, which may be cylindrical, or tapering, as shown, by an impeller 9 carried by a hollow shaft 8 through which air is supplied. The tube flares outwardly above the impeller and is fitted with radial vanes 12. The tube is supported by rods 14 which also carry a plate 15 provided with flared perforations and supporting a slotted, conical deflector 16. The pulp is discharged by a valve 26 carried by a counterweighted lever 28 one arm of which carries a vessel having a restricted discharge outlet, the vessel receiving the overflow from an adjustable weir in the discharge chamber 24.
