Abstract

1459021 Display devices A P DAVIS 1 April 1974 [30 March 1973] 14399/74 Heading G5C In a system for providing an illuminated display for passengers in an underground train display transparencies 10 are placed at intervals along the tunnel each with a rear-mounted strobe lamp 14 controlled by a photo-sensor 16 which is triggered by a device 28 on the train. Passengers at a window 26 thereby see a clear, bright separate image of each transparency by persistence of vision as each lamp is fired. In another form, the lamps are carried on the train and are controlled by devices adjacent the displays 10, reflectors directing the light to the rear of the transparency. Again, each transparency may be replaced by a rear projection screen, and the lamp 14 by a slide projector and mirror, a different slide being shown each time the trigger device operates.
