Abstract

1376616 Display apparatus SENECA PLASTICS Ltd 4 Dec 1971 56418/71 Heading G5C [Also in Division G2] In a display, which may be animated, an observer 4 moves along a path 5 at right angles to elongate light sources behind pellucid image bearing sheets 2 of high optical transmissibility and low diffusibility. The observer 4 thus sees as he passes each sheet 2 successive segments thereof which produce a cumulative impression of the whole image. The series of sheets may each display the same image to provide the impression of a static image or the images may differ to give an impression of animation. The light sources 6 may be artificial lights or ambient line directed through a slit. The light path behind the sheet 2 may be optically folded (details, Figs. 2-10, not shown), this folding is usually required when the display is arranged along a tunnel wall for observation by passengers in an underground train.
