1458758 Door Iock INGERSOLL LOCKS Ltd 17 Dec 1974 54483/74 Heading E2A A door lock comprises a casing with a bolt 15 slidable between locking and withdrawn positions and operable therebetween by a key (not shown) on one side of the casing, a handle 14 on the other side of the casing, a coupling member 22 connecting handle 14 and bolt IS for movement of the bolt between its locking and withdrawn positions by the handle, and key operable means e.g. cylinder 19 to enable or disable the coupling member and stop means to prevent movement of handle 14 when member 22 is disabled. As shown, handle boss 25 supports a circular seating 24 having a groove 23, Fig. 6, therein in which slides coupling member 22. Member 22 has a slot 20 engaged by a pin 21 on cylinder 19 so that in the locking, disabling position of cylinder 19, the portion 26 of member 22 engages one of four slots 30 in a ring element 31 fixed to casing 12 and forming the stop means and in the unlocked, enabling position of cylinder 19, portion 26 engages one of four slots 27 in a disc 28. Disc 28 is mounted on the same shaft 32 as a cam member 29 so that rotation of handle 14, anticlockwise in Fig. 4, will rotate disc 28 and cam 29, surface 41 of which engages lip 37 on plate 16 of bolt 15 to withdraw the bolt. Spring 38 on shaft 32 returns cam 29 clockwise, and spring 55 returns bolt 15 to the right. Shaft 32 also has a keyhole (34, Fig. 2, not shown) on the opposite side of the door to handle 14 to operate the bolt 15 by means of a key. A latch bolt 45 is biassed by spring 47 to a latching position in which projection 48 extends in front of edge (49, Fig. 5, not shown) of bolt 15 and prevents movement thereof to the locking position. On closing the door, latch bolt 45 is pushed by the keeper on the door frame to its releasing position, releasing the bolt 15, which is moved by spring 55 to its locking position. The bolt 15 may be retained in its withdrawn position by depression of peg (50, Fig. 8, not shown) against spring (51), the flange (52) at its lower end engaging notch (53) in the edge 49 of bolt plate 16.
