Abstract

1474652 Door handles and locks YOSHIDA KOGYO KK 18 Feb 1975 [20 Feb 1974] 6765/75 Heading E2A A door locking device has a pair of knobs rotatably supported on the inside and outside of a door and an actuator rod normally rotatable by both knobs e.g. to withdraw a latch bolt, the inside knob having a push button depressible to disengage the outside knob from the actuator rod so that the door is unopenable from outside unless a lock assembly in the outside knob is unlocked. As shown in Fig. 1, an inside knob 15 and an outside knob 16 are rotatably coaxially mounted on door 12. An actuator rod 19 passes through and is rotatable with knob 15 and carries part 26 of a first clutch 24 and a grooved part 36 of a second clutch 32. Rod 19 may be pushed inwardly by push-button 20 against spring 30, disengaging part 26 of clutch 24 from a part 25 thereof on the inner end of shaft 14 of outside knob 16. Button 20 is rotatable relative to rod 19 to retain it in its inner position by L-shaped slot 22 engaging pin 23 on the inside of knob 15. Outer knob 16 can no longer rotate rod 19 via clutch 24 to open the door. Upon unlocking lock 42 and rotating barrel 43, cams 46, 47 cooperate to allow slide 35 and part 34 of clutch to be moved forward by spring 44 so that second clutch parts 34, 36 engage. Rotation of knob 16 will now rotate rod 19 via second clutch 32 to allow door opening. Upon returning barrel 43 to its initial position, cam 46 will withdraw cam 47, slide 35 and second clutch part 34 against spring 44, disengaging clutch 32.
