Abstract

1458373 Reciprocating pumps PUMPADOR (ROCHDALE) Ltd 30 May 1974 [5 April 1973] 16249/73 Heading F1A A pump for slurry, e.g. concrete, comprises a cylinder 11 with an inlet 12 and outlet 14 controlled by respective hydraulically-actuated, gate valves 20, 25, and a piston 15 reciprocated by a hydraulically-actuated piston and cylinder assembly 16 hydraulically connected to the valve-operating assemblies 21, 26 to synchronize the valve and pumping piston movements. Piston 15 has a cavity 36 which communicates at the end of the suction stroke with a chamber 11a supplied with cleaning liquid, e.g. water, via check-valve 30 and port 29, the liquid carried in cavity 36 lubricating and cleaning the cylinder bore. Port 31 in chamber 11a provides for discharge of cleaning liquid and/or intake and discharge of air, and can be used for pumping cleaning liquid and air to clean a length of removed discharge pipe while concrete pumping continues through another discharge pipe. A tapered outlet leading to a flexible discharge pipe may be attached to outlet 14. Inlet hopper 28 may be replaced by an inlet conduit.
