Slots, reversers, and like apparatus.-An electro-magnetic clutch mechanism in a signal-operating mechanism comprises a pin or roller 19 on one element 9 of the clutch adapted to engage a bearing-surface 18 on the mounting 14 of the armature 15 forming the other element of the clutch in such a way that the force exerted upon the armature mounting in setting the signal is resolved so as to be opposed by the magnetic attraction of the armature. The plate 9 carries a bell-crank 11, 13 pivoted rigidly with a cam 6 which is engaged by one of the pins 5 on a disk 1 driven by means of the electric motor 3. If the magnet 16 is de-energized the lever 11, 13 is rocked and the plate 9 is not moved. The semaphore is linked to the crank 10 which is rigid with the plate 9. A dash-pot 21 is provided as a brake for the return movement of the arm to danger. A switch 25, 26 actuated by a pivoted member 23 engaged by a roller 24 opens the motor circuit and short-circuits the motor armature.
