held in Zengagement" with such contact. :Ifhreaded through the lever 27 is an adjust- 's'ng screw 30 by means. ofwhich the frietion'al contact between the lever and the'disk may be varied so as toehmmate the POSSI- bility of the contacts 28 and 2t) separating "in thetravel of the car.v
I From theiforegoing description taken in up by the energized solenoid whereby the pole of-the element 23 adjacent to the disk 25 acts upon the latter to separate the contacts28 and 29 thereby breaking the circuit including the magnets 9 and 11. /'As the magnet 9 is deenergiz-ed'the spring 18 reacts.
to exert a pull uponthe armature 15 there by opening the Whistle 17, while when the magnet 11 is denergized the armature 12 is relieved of the influence of the pole of such magnet and the spring 31 connected with such armature swings the latter to open position, thus holding the circuit including the conductors 19 and 20 and the battery 21 open when. the element 23 passes out of the influence of the field set up by the energized electroresponsive' device along the track.
It will be seen that I have rovided a train signaling apparatus where y the engineer or motorman will be advised when his train has passed a danger signal.
I claim: In train signaling apparatus, a track electroresponsive device comprising a core curved longitudinally in. the form of a Semicircle, poles at the ends of said core, a Winding encircling said core, means for energizing said winding to set up a magnetic field between said poles, {ind a magnetizable element controlling said circuit breaker. and movable through said magnetic field whereby the circuit breaker will be opened to break the controlled circuit.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
