Abstract

1458285 Rotary positive-displacement fluidmachines CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 2 April 1974 [16 April 1973] 14583/74 Heading F1F [Also in Division F2] In a pumping apparatus supplying lubricant to a pair of lubricating systems 58, 62, a pair of sumps 16, 18 are connected to opposite sides of a reversible gear pump 12 by pipes 24, 28, and a pair of delivery conduits 34, 38 is connected to the systems 58, 62 via a check-valve 40 which operates to connect the pump output to the systems 58, 62 irrespective of the direction of rotation of the gears 20, 22. A filter 14 is located downstream of the check-valve and a pair of throttles 56, 60 control the proportion of lubricant flowing to each system 58, 62, lubricant returning to the sumps via lines 64, 66. In a modification of the check-valve 40, a pair of spring-biased balls replace the single ball (44) Fig. 2 (not shown).
