Abstract
1458109 Making cable supports AEGTELEFUNKEN KABELWERKE AG RHEYDT 2 April 1974 [9 April 1973] 14580/74 Heading B3A [Also in Division H1] A method of making a support arrangement for a cable comprises feeding support rings 1 for the support of cable conductors in a loose axial sequence through a guide 3 to a winding point at which strips 8 are wound over the support rings. The support arrangement comprises the support rings which are arranged concentrically to the axis of a cable through which a coolant flows. The support rings are fed through a bent tube 4 into the guide 3, which has slits 7 allowing endless tracks 5 to engage the rings 1 thereby driving them to the winding point. As the rings emerge from the guide they are wrapped with the strips 8, which may be of copper and coated with a superconductive material. The guide 3 is carried by supports 6 and is provided with a viewing window 2.
