Abstract
1457907 Aerials TERMA ELEKTRONISK INDUSTRI AS 26 Feb 1975 [27 Feb 1974] 8878/74 Heading H4A A dual polarization mode microwave aerial comprises two orthogonal grid systems mounted in a generally combined intercrossing manner, so that each system defines a respective reflector surface having a focal point, the two focal points being spaced from each other. The main axes of the two surfaces are parallel. As described, the forward edges of a set of plates 10 define an E-plane paraboloid P E having an axis X E and a focal point F E , whilst the forward edges of a set of plates 12 define an H-plane paraboloid P H having an axis X H and a focal point F H . Horns are located at the points F E , F H which respectively radiate waves polarized in the E- and H-planes. The main beams B E , B H from the reflector surfaces are parallel to the axes X E , X H . Any H-plane polarized radiation from the horn at the point F E will be reflected from the edges of the plates 12 (forming the paraboloid P H ) in a direction B E1 which is different from that of the main beam. Correspondingly, any E-plane polarized radiation from the horn at the point F H will be deflected by the paraboloid P E in a direction B H1 .
