1457719 Derivatives of patchoulol ROURE BERTRAND DUPONT SA 1 Aug 1975 [2 Aug 1974 9 April 1975] 32258/75 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of the formula where R is COOH, CH 2 OH or CHO. Compounds wherein R is COOH and CH 2 OH are prepared by oxidizing patchoulol. The compound wherein R is CHO is prepared by oxidizing the compound wherein R is CH 2 OH. The aldehyde may be further oxidized to the acid. The acid may be oxidatively decarboxylated to give norpatchoulenol.
