1505029 Electrolytically producing intermediate pyran compounds PFIZER Inc 21 July 1976 [28 Aug 1975] 43608/76 Divided out of 1505028 Heading C7B [Also in Division C2] Compounds of the Formula II are made by subjecting compounds III to electrolysis in the presence of a solvent R<SP>1</SP>OH, where R<SP>1</SP> is C 1-6 alkyl. In Example 3 a compound II, when R<SP>1</SP> is CH 3 is made by submitting 2-(α- hydroxypropyl) furon to a constant current of 0À6 amperes in methanol containing conc. H 2 SO 4 .
