Abstract

1457183 Buoyant breakwaters MITSUI SHIPBUILDING & ENG CO Ltd 4 Feb 1974 [5 Feb 1973] 05103/74 Heading E1H A wave-damping unit comprises a buoyant framework 1, 2 surrounding and secured to a perforated plate 6 the unit being anchored by cables 13, 15 and weights 14, 16 so that the plate 6 is horizontal and below sea level. The framework comprises closed pipes 1, 2, a pair of eye plates being mounted at each end of each pipe 1 to receive a pin 12 locating a resilient connector 11 so that a plurality of units may be connected together for location transverse to the direction of wave travel. The apertures 10 are arranged in rows and increase in diameter in the direction of wave travel.
