1456227 Slip casting ceramic material JOHN STEVENTON & SONS Ltd 2 Dec 1974 [7 Dec 1973] 56968/73 Addition to 1333707 Heading B5A A modification of the process and apparatus of Specification 1,333,707 for casting ceramic in slip form in which a removable tube 20 is provided in the mould with one end located at a predetermined position in the mould near the top of a cavity 16 of an article to be cast in the mould and the other end located to enable air to enter the tube after the casting time has elapsed removing, with the tube closed, by means of valve 14 a small quantity of surplus slip sufficient to bring the level of slip 25 below the tube but insufficient to cause the cast 75 to pull away from the mould surface and opening the tube so as to allow air to enter the mould cavity and draining the rest of the slip in a controlled manner characterized by a rod 23 in the tube being used to effect closure.
