Abstract

1,254,592. Moulding processes. GRUNZWEIG & HARTMANN A.G. 31 Jan., 1969 [3 Feb., 1968], No. 5353/69. Heading B3F. Granular moulding material in a moulding box 1 is formed into a fluidized bed by admission of a compressed gas through the porous base 2, a pattern which will gasify in contact with the molten material to be cast is then located in the fluidized bed and the moulding material compacted around the pattern by throttling off the supply of compressed gas. A vacuum may be applied to assist in the compaction process. After solidification the compressed gas may be readmitted to the moulding material to facilitate removal of the casting.
