Abstract

1455973 Valves H J J FISKER 21 Feb 1975 7267/75 Heading F2V A vacuum relief valve for the inlet manifold of an internal combustion engine comprises a housing divided into a first chamber 5 and a second chamber 6 by a diaphragm 4 to which is attached a spring-loaded tubular valve member 9 controlling communication between an external connection 7, for connecting to the inlet manifold, and an air inlet 16 having a filter 17. When the vacuum in the manifold rises above the pre-set level of the spring 12, which may be varied by a screw-threaded bush 11, the valve member 9 lifts from its seat 12 to allow air to flow into the manifold to reduce the vacuum.
