Abstract

1455255 Folding edges of and seaming non- metallic sheet material ILCOR GmbH 20 Dec 1973 [22 Dec 1972] 59352/72 Heading B5K [Also in Division Dl] The seam allowances 11a, 12a of a seam formed from fabrics 11, 12 presenting their face sides to each other and folded back, each to lie against the reverse side of the fabric. The seam may be a welded seam and the allowances caused to lie against the fabric by heat or steam pressing, thermoplastic deformation or by adhesive or other bonding. In a seaming machine a folder 14 secured to a fixed plate 16 folds the allowances back over seamed fabric lying above and below a plate 15 pivoted at 17 to plate 16. A portion of the folder 14 comprises parts 24a, 24b urged towards each other by a spring 27 and heated by a coil 28 to set the allowances in their folded back position before the seam is opened out. In another embodiment (Fig. 5, not shown) pressing arrangements including a steam jet and heated pressing members are provided, the seam being drawn therethrough by rollers (77, Fig. 6, not shown).
