Abstract

1454999 Apparatus for cleaning gases D SUMMERS 10 Jan 1974 [24 Feb 1973] 9202/73 Heading B1R A venturi gas cleaning apparatus comprises a rectangular duct formed by an external casing and having walls 26, 27 formed by opposed movable rigid panels and fixed opposed walls 23, 24 (Fig. 3 not shown), each wall 26 and 27 having a hinged mounting 30 adjacent the exit end of the duct and further hinges 29 and pin and slot connections 28 and means for adjusting the relative position of the walls to vary the venturi throat cross section which comprise brackets 35 located on the panels remote from the hinge 30, screw shafts 32 and captive nuts 33, and a cleaning liquid trough 40 and associated triangular deflector element 42. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 4 not shown) the injector comprises a pipe 46 of triangular cross section with apertures 49 and with a deflector plate 47 held on adjustable distance from 46 by screws 48 to define an adjustable liquid exit slot 50.
