1454734 Reciprocating pumps and motors SULZER BROS Ltd 14 May 1975 [14 May 1974] 20371/75 Heading F1A In a radial piston, hydraulic pump or motor comprising a cylinder block 5 rotatable on a pintle 1 and having pistons 7 engaging, via slippers 8, flat guide surfaces 10 on a guide member 11 which has a drive-shaft 14 and rotates about an axis spaced from the cylinder block axis, the pintle 1 is supported within the guide member 11 by bearings 15, 16, e.g. hydrostatic bearings, on each side of the cylinder block, and is prevented from rotating by a torque-resisting means 19 substantially without impeding radial movements of the pintle. As shown, the means 19 comprises a corrugated diaphragm 24 connected to the pintle by a shear pin 22. In Fig. 1b, the means 19 comprises axiallyspaced, annular diaphragms (26, 27) connected by a ring (28). In Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), the means 19 comprises a torque arm (40) with a resilient section (41). In Fig. 5 and 6 (not shown), the means 19 comprises a universal joint with an inner disc (50) and outer ring (51) inter-connected by tongues engaging slots.
