Abstract

1454410 Corona charging apparatus XEROX CORP 21 Dec 1973 59527/73 Heading H1X A corona generating device includes a coronode 11 connected between mountings, at least one of which comprises a fixed plastics member 21 and a movable plastics member 22 to which the associated end of the coronode 11 is attached, said members interacting through compressible resilient means 23 which act to urge the movable member 22 in the direction of the adjacent end of the device. The fixed member 21 is secured in position by lugs 26 with enlarged heads which engage keyhole rests 27 in the base of a support member 14 of PVC or nylon. The movable member 22 is provided with pimples 30 to slide on the base of member 14 and has lugs 28 which slide in slots in the side walls 21b of member 21 and engage compression springs 23 mounted in bores 25b in the side walls. The coronode wire 11 is knotted or kinked at one end which is secured in a slot 29 in member 22. The other end of the wire 11 passes through a slot in a fixed support member (Fig. 3, not shown) and together with a connector is secured by a bolt to the base of member 14. A screen electrode 12 with side walls 13 forming a shield is held in the member 14 by lips 17 and is closed by an end member 31. The device is used for charging a photoconductive surface in an electrostatographic machine (Fig. 1, not shown).
