Abstract

1454374 Fan rotors ROLLS ROYCE (1971) Ltd 28 March 1974 [31 March 1973] 15610/73 Heading FIT A fan for a gas turbine engine includes blades 11 resiliently connected to a surrounding shroud ring 15 by the engagement of a pair of lugs 13c on each blade tip within annular undercuts 14A in the shroud ring. The lugs 13c are disposed at the ends of arms 13A connected to the blade aerofoils by short necks 13B. Loading slots 17 are provided for lugs 13c as well as end stop inserts 18 for arms 13A. Breakage of a blade 11, e.g. in the event of a bird strike, will occur at neck 13B leaving the main portion of the blade to deflect about its connection to a central disc (12), Fig. 1 (not shown).
