Abstract
1454213 Sealing device for a casting ladle FRIED KRUPP HUTTENWERKE AG 24 Oct 1974 [2 Nov 1973 11 Sept 1974] 46459/74 Heading F4B In a casting ladle 1 in which molten metal is degassed under vacuum the discharge nozzle 7 is closed by a sliding gate 10 or a stopper rod and is sealed from the outside by a destructable, vacuum-tight film 3 which is clamped between concentric rings 12, 13 attached to the laddle base 11 by a ring 11a. A gas-pervious support box 14, e.g. a light metal grid, serves as a spacer so that the film 3 is not damaged by the sliding nozzle. In a further embodiment the sealing film may be clamped between the lower end of the discharge nozzle and the fixed head plate (5), of a sliding nozzle (4) Fig. 3 (not shown). The sealing film is protected by filling the nozzle with sand. To pour the molten metal the gate is opened and the sealing film is destroyed by heat or ruptured mechanically.
