Abstract

1454093 Pipe joints ROCKWELL INTERNATIONAL CORP 18 April 1974 16981/74 Heading F2G A leak-repair clamp for spigot and socket pipe joints comprises two identical rings 28, 30 one to extend around and bear against the bell portion 24 of the socket end the other to extend around the spigot pipe end and bear against a circular sealing gasket 32, bolts 34 being provided for drawing the rings 28, 30 together to apply pressure to the gasket 32, each of the rings 28, 30 being comprised of two identical half ring cast metal members 36 each having male and female coupling parts at opposite ends to interfit with the other half ring, and radially extending flanges with through holes to accommodate the bolts 34. Each male coupling part comprises an ear member 62 projecting from an end wall 60, and a lug formed on the ear member so as to interfit with a female coupling part 58 on another half ring. A locating shoulder 67 is formed on the inner edge of the ear member 62. A plurality of bifurcated centreing members 98 are provided round the ring 30 to centre the spigot pipe end. For use with larger pipe diameters each ring 28 or 30 may be formed from three or more identical segment members, if desired.
