Abstract

1453434 Apparatus for locating a workpiece during sawing G W WYNN 11 Jan 1974 [13 Oct 1972] 47280/72 Heading B5L A saw guide apparatus for location of a workpiece for a cutting operation comprises a surface adapted to bear against the workpiece and provided with a workpiece-contacting layer of a material having a greater coefficient of friction with the workpiece than said surface. The layer is preformed and may be secured by double-sided adhesive tape. It may be of p.v.c. or polyethylene or of foamed polyethylene, polyurethane or rubber. It may be continuous or interrupted, e.g. in strips, and may be transparent. Markings may be provided thereon for workpiece location. As described the apparatus is a sawing jig having a base 2 with the layer, holes 10 for workpiece locating dowel pins, and columns 4, 6 with saw guiding slots 8. The anti-slip material may be applied to other surfaces of the apparatus, e.g. the front face and under surface, as well as extending into the holes 10.
