1446706 Machining curved surfaces R G PAGDEN and I M H PAGDEN 21 Aug 1973 [7 June 1972] 26588/72 Heading B3B [Also in Division F2] Apparatus for machining a curved surface on a workpiece comprises an elongate arcuate support 2, and a tool slide 1 slidable along the support, the clearance between the support and slide being filled with a pressurised fluid. The workpiece may rotate about an axis AA, which may be parallel to the plane of the drawing, or at an angle thereto. In a modification, the workpiece is non-rotatable but movable along the axis AA. The cross-sectional-shape of support 2 may be rectangular, triangular, or of channel section, or a plurality of supports may support a single tool slide.
